Les Hauer was raised in Arizona and served in the Air Force before beginning his journey as an educator. While working on his bachelor’s degree at Ottawa University to become a certified teacher he worked as a paraprofessional and P.E. teacher at a private school for students with emotional disabilities. Following college, Les taught in the Gilbert Public School District as a special education teacher and eventually as the special education liaison between GPS and the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT). Les earned a master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in educational leadership in 2017. Most recently, Les was an assistant principal at Coconino High School after teaching history, government and economics there for five years. Les and his wife Denise have two sons and are grateful to call Northern Arizona their home. Les is passionate about history, snow sports, mountain biking, and adventures in the natural wonderland of the north country.
